Unchapped Investigates: Chapstick Mixstix Green Apple Caramel DISCONTINUED?!

If your a fan of the Chapstick Mixstixes, don't panic yet.

Yesterday, I was on the Chapstick website looking for some info for my previous blog post. I noticed that when I clicked on Mixstix, only Stawberry Banana Smoothie and Lemon Berry Sorbet showed up. There was no mention of Green Apple Caramel.

I'm wondering if this means it's going to be discontinued soon or if it's just a mistake. I'm not sure how long the website's been like this, so it might mean nothing and it's just a fluke that's been missing for awhile.

I found that Green Apple Caramel is sold online on Drugstore.com and Walgreens.com. What's interesting is that although Walgreens sells all three flavors of Mixstix, Green Apple Caramel is the only flavor not available in Walgreens stores.

I did some research and I can't find anything about it possibly being discontinued. I decided to contact Chapstick today and I'm hoping to get a response soon. When I do, I'll update this post with the information I get.

UPDATE: I still haven't received a response from Chapstick, so I doubt I will. This mystery still remains unsolved. I have been looking for Green Apple Caramel in stores, and I haven't seen it.

New Lip Balm Roundup #1

I've been seeing many new lip balms available recently, so I thought I'd share for those of you interested in the new balms on the market. These have all been released within the last couple months.

Please note, all these lip balms are permanent unless I say otherwise. I made sure to include links to websites where you can buy these lip balms if you are interested. Also, none of these images are mine, and credit is given at the bottom of each one.

These first few have been out for a couple months, but I wanted to include them because they are still somewhat new and are now becoming widely available.

1. Eos Visibly Soft Lip Balm
Eos released this new formula, that is supposed to be more moisturizing than the original and leave lips super soft. It comes in two flavors, Vanilla Mint and Coconut Milk. I know that this lip balm is available in store and online at Walgreens and Ulta, as well as Drugstore.com.

2. Lypsyl Ultra Soothing Chamomile & Honey (Available only at Walgreens)
Yay, a new Lypsyl balm! This formula is supposed to soothe and condition dry lips. If your a Lypsyl fan like myself, this balm is a must.

3. Chapstick Dual-Ended Hydration Lock
Chapstick released these new balms in Day & Right and Moisturize & Renew. These balms are in the style of their Mixstix lip balms, but these have two different formulas in each instead of two different flavors. Day & Night has a lip balm with spf for the daytime, and a more moisturizing balm for the nighttime. Moisturize & Renew has the Moisturize side that smooths and reduces fine lines, while the Renew side is supposed to condition the lips. These balms are available in store and online at Walgreens and CVS, as well as in store at Rite Aid. They are also available online at Drugstore.com and Amazon

4. Blistex Ultra Rich Hydration
This new balm has an inner core and outer core to moisturize and protect. The blue inner core is supposed to be moisturizing, while the white outer core has ingredients to protect the lips. It's available at most drug and discount stores where Blistex balms are sold. It's also available on many websites online, including Drugstore.com and Walgreens.com.

These next couple balms I know are new, but I'm not sure exactly how long they've been out. It really depends what stores you have in your area and when they put stuff out.

5. Blistex Orange Mango Blast
When I heard about this balm, all I could think was yum! I assume the formula will be the same as Blistex's Raspberry Lemonade Blast, since the description on the Blistex website is almost exactly the same. I'm not sure where exactly this balm is sold in stores, but I assume most drug and discount stores where Blistex is sold. Online, it is available on Drugstore.com.

6. Burt's Bees Vanilla Bean and Wild Cherry Moisturizing Lip Balms
Burt's Bees added two new flavors to their range. I'm wondering if these are a whole new formula, or just new flavors of an existing formula; since it's unclear on the Burt's Bees Website. Anyhow, these are two classic flavors and I'm happy they added them to their line. I assume these are sold in most drug and discount stores that Burt's Bees products are sold in. Online, you can purchase these on the Burt's Bees website.

Lastly, here are a few balms that have just been spotted and have been popping up in certain locations recently. They should become more widely available within a few weeks.

7. Vaseline Lip Therapy Crème Brûlée
If you love the Vaseline lip balms in the mini Vaseline containers, this is one you might want to check out. Currently in addition to the original, their is a cocoa butter flavor and a rosy lips version. Now Vaseline has released a new flavor. I'm unsure if this Crème Brûlée flavor is limited edition, but I would assume it's permanent because it doesn't say otherwise on the packaging.

8. Walgreens Revo Limited Edition Collection for Halloween 2014
Last year we got a Holiday Collection, this year Walgreens is releasing a Halloween Collection. There are five flavors: Black Cat Cherry (Black), Chocolate Mint (Green), Ghoulish Grape (Purple), Pumpkin Spice (Orange), and Candy Corn (White). As you may know, these sphere lip balms are seen as a "dupe" for the eos lip balms, even though the formulas are very different. To see a picture of the display, check out Nouveau Cheap's blog post here. These currently aren't available online to my knowledge.

9. Eos Holiday 2014 Limited Edition Rachel Roy Set
This year, eos's holiday set has all NEW flavors. They collaborated with fashion designer Rachel Roy. The three flavors are: St. Barth's Sunrise (Pink Grapefruit), Aloha Hawaii (Strawberry Kiwi), and Indian Summer (Orange Blossom). These lip balms also each have a little wing design on each. These are currently available online at Drugstore.com and Ulta.com. They should be available soon in drug and discount stores that sell eos.

10. Eos Limited Edition Rachel Roy Lip Balm- Wildberry
And yes, eos is releasing ANOTHER Rachel Roy lip balm. This one is in Wildberry, and just like the set it has a little wing design on it. It's currently available online at Drugstore.com and Walmart.com

I hope that this post has made the hunt easier for you and alerted you about the new lip balms coming out. If you've tried any of these or are interested in buying them, I would love it if you'd leave a comment below. I've already purchased all of these lip balms except the Blistex Orange Mango Blast, the Vaseline one, and all the eos Rachel Roy lip balms. I can't wait to try the exotic flavors in the Rachel Roy set!
